Re: Tales from the Crypt III -Time for 'Opposite' day |
I'm right there with you on Looks Like Rain- still waiting for a version that grabs me. Honestly, it's the lyrics that kill me.
Check out the New Minglewood on "Go To Nassau"- it's from 5/16/1980, and Jerry tears the song a new one. I always skipped that tune before I noticed that version.

Two for SHIP OF FOOLS: 5-9-77 and 6-20-74
MIGHT AS WELL: 10-29-77 (sorry for the predicatability, but it really is the best one I know)
ROW JIMMY: as perviously stated, 4-12-78.
LLR: Can't help you there. I really hate that freaking song.
Some other great Bobby songs he doesn't get enough credit for:
BlackThroatedWind, Greatest Story (9/28/72--simply unreal, but that's mostly b/c of Jerry), ESAU, and Cassidy.

i dont understand how you can hate LLR. it's one of the most romantic, beautiful songs ever written in my opinion. granted bobby's voice isnt my favorite thing in the world, but still.
my fave LLR so far is 6/9/77 Winterland

Sorry, just can't agree on your assesment of LLR. What you find romantic I find super-cheesy. It's way too blunt in its lyrics ('but it's alright, cause I love you, and that's not gonna change..." sounds like a bad hallmark card...then there's just the tune itself, which is weak 70's FM radio, IMO....but there's no right or wrong...it's just differences of opinion...I find Althea by contrast to be a much more "grown up" love song w/better, more subtle and clever lyrics, and a far better instrumental jam.
